There is no escaping yourself
There is no escaping yourself.
It is time for each of us to embrace our own darkness. The chaos created out there came from within us. It has always existed, and we have always, in some way, endured it. If we remain silent because that was the way it was or because of fear, we accept the abuse of children, of women, of races, of genders...
It has always existed, but now we are horrified because we no longer accept it. We are seeing, no longer with the eyes of the face, but with those of the conscience. More than centuries of abuse, betrayal, neglect, rejection and so on.
The darkness is not ‘theirs’. It is part of all of us. What each person does with it is what makes the difference between them and us.
Making room for the light is only possible, then, because we have gone through processes that have shaped us to be this way. To act under the guidance of the light within us.
Not everyone can imagine themselves doing the same. Which is perfectly understandable, because first they need to have the structure for it. It is built as we fully accept many aspects of ourselves. To do this, one must be willing to look at them.
What triggers you is the first sign. It leads you to look at the parts of yourself that you have, unconsciously, abandoned. This is not about psychology. This is human nature. Many live unconsciously, without taking responsibility for themselves, hiding behind millions of excuses, running away from themselves, without taking full control of their own lives into their own hands, out of fear.
Fear of looking at oneself. Fear of looking at the parts of oneself that bother them. But your shadows are yours. And you cannot be integral without integrating them.
